Abstract

AbstractThe beam quality‐range that used to be reserved for lamp‐pumped solid‐state lasers is now covered by fiber‐coupled diode lasers. Accordingly, the diode laser is more and more displacing the lamppumped solid‐state lasers in different application fields, among these being laserbased plastics welding. End‐users have gained confidence in this process, thus, product acceptance, particularly in the automotive and automotive suppliers industry is at a high level. Also within medical device manufacturing, this method continuously takes over different applications. Especially in this field, laser plastics welding is advantageous since high weld qualities are required.
