Abstract

Working in his parents’ pub in Ireland as a teenager was good grounding for Tom Cahill’s future career in mental health nursing. He trained in St Albans, landed a ward manager post soon after qualifying and has since held a range of management posts, striving in each to improve standards of care for patients. He is now chief executive of hertfordshire partnership NHS foundation trust
