Abstract
This paper presents the design of a complete automation system for the gates of a kneader machine, used in a carbon plant for anode production in the aluminium industry, to control the input specific energy (power consumption) and so improve the quality of the resulting anode paste thanks to a higher mixture homogenization. The design includes the development of a hydraulic group to activate the gates, an electronic driver and the software control system.
