Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the quality factor of an electrically small planar slot antenna with different matching networks. Firstly, we design an electrically small planar slot antenna operating below 400 MHz without a ground plane. Next, we design two different kinds of matching networks (distributed and lumped element) to match the input of the antenna with a 50-ohm line. The quality factor of the antenna is computed using the input impedance of the antenna. The computed results show that the quality factor of the designed electrically small planar slot antenna does not vary with the type of matching.
