Abstract

SummaryQuality control of paints and their application can be carried out in a variety of ways. The author describes six forms of control, including selection of the supplier, a guarantee system, the approval of proprietary materials and specifications based on outline composition and performance tests with inspection delegated, on performance tests alone and on both composition and performance requirements. The importance of adequate pretreatment is emphasized, and the author comments on the advantages and disadvantages of the systems mentioned.
