Abstract

Radiation Oncology is a field with a long-established tradition of physician peer review. The institution has a two-step physician peer review process: 1) daily meetings to prospectively review planned doses and target/image segmentations prior to radiation therapy treatment planning and delivery, and 2) weekly “chart rounds” where port films, 3D radiation therapy doses, and chart documentation are reviewed. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of physician attendance (the number of attending physicians present) at daily meetings on the number/nature of peer review-defined changes to planned cases.
