Abstract

AbstractThis chapter defines quality control and quality assurance. Quality control relates to operational techniques and activities, while quality assurance ensures that systematic actions are in place which enable confidence that the results meet the required level of quality, such as accuracy and precision. The components necessary in carrying out quality control and assurance of agricultural products are described. These include replicates, standard reference materials, quality systems, matrix interference, standard additions or 'spiking'.
