Aims and intended learning outcomes The aim of this article is to increases nurses’ awareness of issues and methods involved in quality improvement in a healthcare setting. After reading this article you should be able to: ■Describe the quality framework currently being put in place throughout the NHS. ■Identify five approaches to quality improvement in health care. ■Undertake a critical incident analysis of some aspect of your nursing practice. ■Contribute effectively to the development of clinical governance through clinical supervision in your organisation.
