Abstract

In this paper, after first ascertaining the state of university education and the development of library and information science education (LIS education) in China, the primary forms of contemporary LIS education are broadly summarized. Based on this, measures to qualitatively maintain LIS education in China are verified; finally, the vocational qualifications of Chinese librarians are discussed. By examining these topics, the reforms necessary for LIS education’s development in China, trends in its qualitative reform, and the vocational qualifications of librarians are clarified. Also, to a certain extent, the direction in which these subjects can be expected to progress in the future is identified.
