Abstract

AbstractThe need for a qualitative update of the characteristics of labor force in the digital economy of the region is due to the search for the necessary opportunities for the accumulation and use of human potential and preservation and extension of the life cycle of labor resources. Modification of labor force is expressed in increasing the role and renewal of the worker as an object and a subject of the labor process, changing its characteristics and socially responsible orientation. The paper aims to analyze the process of qualitative updating of the characteristics of labor force in the conditions of digitalization of the regional economy, identifying the main determinants and factors of modification. The authors reveal the determinants and factors of qualitative renewal of labor force under the conditions of digitalization of the regional economy, including the improvement of the structure of labor force, the development of social factors of the organization, the improvement of working conditions, and the development of labor and social activity. The main characteristics and sources of development of labor force were determined: educational and professional level, health and professional longevity, sanitary and hygienic conditions and healthy working environment, labor and creative activity, social responsibility, and participation in management. The authors defined that the qualitative renewal of labor force is determined primarily with changes in the organization and working conditions, the type and characteristics of the employee, the role of the team in the creation of economic wealth, and social progress. The qualitative renewal of labor force is expressed in increasing the role of the personalities of employers and changing their socially responsible orientation. Innovations in labor and employee characteristics are driven by the demands on personnel from today’s advanced generations of means of labor, innovative technologies, and the digitalization of the economy. Today’s innovative production and digitalization of the economy require continuous training. Additionally, there is a need for workers with better professional skills.
