Abstract

Qualitative-reasoning-based models issued from Qualitative Physics are considered within the framework of automatic control intelligent supervision. Using order of magnitudes, focus is put on qualitative equation solving useful in qualitative simulation. General order of magnitude algebraic structures are shown to have very poor properties for calculus . Some conditions are presented which define "good" qualitative algebras. Strategies are then given to build a qualitative environment in which a resolution scheme is provided.
