Abstract

Qualitative analysis of dynamic systems predicts and explains the behaviour of mechanisms in qualitative terms. The ability to reason about dynamic behaviour at the qualitative level is essential to perform tasks such as modelling, analysing and designing dynamic complex systems. This paper shows how qualitative reasoning, bond-graphs and coloured Petri nets are incorporated. Bond-graph is used to represent the dynamic behaviour of the system. It is a good model for qualitative analysis. The obtained model is transformed in term of hierarchical coloured Petri nets. Then qualitative analysis is achieved with a set of rules declared with the functional language «CPN-ML». A pressure-regulator example illustrates the principle of this approach
