Abstract

s / Can J Diabetes 37 (2013) S217eS289 S229 (AVF), however, little is known about the influence of these two factors together on the AVF. Methods: Were evaluated 91 subjects, divided in two groups: Operated (n1⁄450) and Not operated (n1⁄441). The operated subjects were categorized into two groups according to the BS time. Were measured anthropometric variables, body composition by DXA, AVF and the level of PA. Results: There were differences in anthropometric and body composition variables, being the patients operated for longer (>97 months) had higher values compared to those operated more recently (36 to 96 months). Contrarily, when the PA is considered, the body weight differences remains only among the group which underwent BS for less time and those in the sedentary >97 months since BS group. The active group who did the BS >97 months was different from shorter term active BS group in AVF. Conclusion: Were verified that the BS influences more the anthropometric variables and the level of PA affects more the body composition variables, referring to the importance of the practice of PA after BS regardless the time after surgery.
