Abstract

Qualitative and Quantitative Urinalysis Utilizing Urinary Enzymes as Urinary Markers for Early Detection of Renal Dysfunction in Canine Filariasis Filariasis is one of the major causes for renal failure in human beings in areas where filariasis is endemic, which might be due to the toxic and immunological effects of the parasite. Since Kerala is an endemic focus of both human and canine filariasis, we have to consider the role of natural filarial infections as one of the possible cause for increasing incidence of renal failure in dogs too. With this background the present study was conducted to elucidate the possible role of microfilariae in renal diseases in dogs.
