Abstract

. L-gulonolactone oxidase activity was assessed in kidney and liver tissues of 14 teleosts by use of a histochemical technique for qualitative identification of the presence of enzyme activity and a biochemical technique for quantification of activity of the enzyme. Nine tilapias, two cyprinids and three salmonids were investigated; enzyme activity was only detected in liver and kidney tissues of common carp, Cyprinus carpio L., and kidney tissue of Oreochromis spilurus (Gunther) and O. aureus (Steindachner).
