As its effectiveness occurs in the most different realms - state, municipal, federal and private -the focus of this research is to reflect on theformative quality, through a study that emphasizes discussions regarding the federal network, showing specifically, data from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology Education of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN). In this study we used the literature review based on the works of Frigotto (2007), Manfredi (2002) and Pacheco (2011), and a documentary review based fundamentally on the PNE and on the documents that guide the consolidation of this teaching modality,as well as data from the National High School Examination - Enem 2014 and CENSO 2016. In consonance with the data studied, we reaffirm the importance of this modality of education within the federal network, acknowledging its quality and relevance to the expansion process of this network, especially in Rio Grande do Norte.
