Abstract
According to WHO (World Health Organization) quality of life can be defined as “the individual's perception of” his or her position in life, in the context of the culture and value system in which he lives and in relation to his goals, expectations, standards and concerns'. Quality of life is a progressive concern in society and can be measured in various contexts and populations, including medical students. Higher medical education is both a fulfillment and a dream scenario, but also a place for academics to encounter stressors that require harsh adaptation processes. The study aimed to conduct a survey in the national and international literature about the quality of life in medical students and point out the most used instruments for its measurement. The articles were consulted in the PubMed, SciELO and Lilacs databases. We used articles written in English, Portuguese and Spanish published in the last 120 months, ie, from 2009 to 2019. We included 18 articles in the study. The articles included in this review show that the quality of life has a direct influence on the personal and professional behavior of the student, emphasizing the relevance of the theme and its consequences. In this sense, it was found that the most used instruments to measure the quality of life of this population were: Fantastic Lifestyle Questionnaire (EVT), (Whoqol-100), Whoqol-bref, HRQOL short form-36.
