Abstract

Nowadays, mariculture is a major industry in Santa Catarina. With the introduction of exotic species of oyster, Crassostrea gigas, in 1994, the state has emerged as a national leader in the production of the snails. Being one of mariculture production sectors most active in the state of Santa Catarina, has developed a survey that used two indicators as conceptual and methodological differentiation and assessment of quality of life and quality of living conditions for two: Indicator Quality of life (QLI) and the indicator of the conditions to Live (IQCV). With the main objective of identifying possible differences in perspectives between family producers of oysters and development agents EPAGRI. Indicators and IQCV IQV were employed and the appropriate location of Ribeirao da Ilha, Florianopolis � SC. Comparing the IQV (0.66) with IQCV (0.50), it is understood that the degree of satisfaction with the quality of living conditions manifested by shellfishermen is less than that perceived by support staff EPAGRI. The result shows that some improvements in living conditions proposed by staff EPAGRI can not always be translated to an improved quality of life of the community shellfishermen
