Abstract

We investigate the optical rectification (OR) process and the corresponding refractive index change (RIC) in single electron charged GaAs spherical quantum dot. The effective mass approximation is used with the finite potential including the effect of conduction band nonparabolicity. The OR and the RIC processes are studied including dipole plus quadrupole effects within the framework of the density matrix approach for different dot radii and outside arsenide, nitride and oxide matrix in the terahertz range.
