Abstract

It is well known that the uncertainty arisen from the aerodynamic torque of wind speed imposes significant challenge for control of wind turbine, especially in the stage of maximum power point tracking (MPPT). In this paper, a sliding mode adaptive observer is proposed to estimate the nonlinear aerodynamic torque, based on which a linear quadratic tracking control optimization algorithm is developed. It is shown that this method can not only ensure precise rotor speed tracking, but also evidently reduce the vibration of the drive train. Both theoretical analysis and numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
