Abstract
Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra of the C band of KCl:Sn2+, and RbCl:Sn2+ crystals have been investigated experimentally. Coupling to the T2g vibrational mode is confirmed to be present in the C band of the Sn2+ centre. The observed inversion-asymmetric MCD lineshape is understood in terms of a quadratic electron-lattice interaction.
