Abstract
Purpose: We combined laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) and laparoscopic partial gastrectomy into a single procedure (GBSR). Methods: The six and twelve month percent excess weight loss (EWL) was compared to results expected from the literature for LAGB and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) using t test. The time to band adjustment was compared with the six week period experienced in our setting for LAGB using a sign test. Results: Eighteen patients were considered. One patient had gastric leak and had the band removed in postoperative day one.
