Abstract

Background: The potential ability of cancer to nonspecifically suppress the integrity of the immune system may critically impact the management and treatment of patients with cancer. No experimental mechanisms to confirm, quantify, or study this possible phenomenon are presently available. Methods: C57BL/6 mice were inoculated with saline or variable amounts of the poorly immunogenic mouse melanoma cell line B16F10. Ten days later, mice were inoculated with 2x105 PFU of Armstrong strain lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV).
