Abstract

Due to the scarcity of the allocated spectrum and power supply of wireless sensor networks, Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN) and Energy Harvesting (EH) techniques have extensively been investigated. The power and spectrum efficiencies are enhanced with merging CRNs and EH technologies to the wireless sensor networks. In this paper, an optimization of the Markovian battery model is introduced to enhance the probability of packet loss with respect to energy harvesting probabilities. Moreover, the enhanced packet loss probability is modeled in different spectrum availability of spectrum being idle/occupied. Furthermore, multi-objective optimization of probability of packet loss and the probability of false alarm is discussed for improving the overall system performance. In addition, derivation of average queuing delay based on little's low is discussed.
