Abstract

In this paper we propose a system that is based on distributed file storage and on the blockchain technology, as implemented by the PrivateSky platform. It offers a number of improvements to existing cloud storage and communication solutions, and is designed to be suitable in a large variety of contexts. Data that is exchanged between users is encrypted and data blocks are anchored in the blockchain. Existing data cannot be modified, only new versions can be added, which provide data history and audit, and protects the integrity of data. The system is designed to allow the use of multiple devices and to prevent the problems related to cryptographic key loss, while maintaining a high level of data privacy and integrity protection.
