Abstract

The Q 2 dependence of quark and gluon fragmentation functions is investigated within the framework of a parton model based on Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Contributions from gluon fragmentation become important through the mixing effects at large Q 2. The Q 2-dependent fragmentation functions are shown to satisfy the momentum conservation constraints.
