Abstract
Pyrolysis of naphtha, kerosene, and gas oil in the presence of steam was performed in an experimental tubular reactor, and the effect of reaction temperatures and residence time on the product yields was observed. It was found that the corrected product yields, excluding aromatic fractions from the observed composition, are almost the same in all cases.An assumption was made that pyrolysis mechanism can be expressed by two stage reactions, primary and secondary. Primary gas of the constant composition is produced in the first stage, and the recombinations of those members of the gas follow in the second stage.Based on the experimental results and the above assumption, the authors made a kinetic simulation model of pyrolysis process, universally applicable to naphtha, kerosene, and gas oil, and obtained the calculated composition of products, which agreed well with the observed results.
