Abstract

The 5-[(N-arylamino)-methylene]pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione derivatives were prepared from reaction of N-arylamine derivatives with 5-formyl-pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione derivatives and characterized by elemental analysis, ATR-FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The Cu(II) complexes were synthesized via reaction of two equivalent of pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione ligands with one equivalent of Cu(OAc)2.H2O and characterized by elemental analysis and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. Also, the molecular structures of 3b and 3f were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. 3b is six coordinated copper(II) complex and the geometry around Cu(II) is distorted elongated octahedral coordination while 3f is four coordinated copper(II) complex and the Cu(II) atom has a perfect square planar geometry. Furthermore, the synthesized Cu(II) complexes were used as catalyst for the peroxidative oxidation of cyclohexane and they showed moderate activity under mild condition in acetonitrile.
