Abstract
The levels of reduced and oxidized pyridine nucleotides were measured in the lens of several species. Both guinea pig and rabbit lens had high levels of NADH, measured in two different ways. Pyridine nucleotide levels in the lenses of two diabetic rabbits were about the same as in normal rabbits, except that of NAD, which was lower in diabetic rabbits. Human cataractous lens had no reduced pyridine nucleotides.
