Abstract

The concept of p-version boundary element modeling of problems of elastostatics of the two-dimensional continua is presented. Areas unique to the p-version boundary element formulation are discussed. These include the development of the equations of nodal collocation for the p-version, selection of higher order hierarchial shape functions, techniques for integrating the product of the kernel functions and these shape functions, strategies for selecting collocation points used in approximating the unknowns associated with the higher order shape functions, and program organization. A numerical example which demonstrates the performance of the p- version formulation is included.
