Abstract
A modified PVC electrode with tetradecyltrimethyl ammonium surfactant-clinoptilolite nanoparticles exhibited Nernstian response (29.9 ± 0.9 mV per decade) for sulfate ions in a working concentration range of 1.0 × 10− 7 − 1.0 × 10− 1 mol × L− 1 sulfate (detection limit of 7.0 × 10− 8 mol L− 1 sulfate). The sensor had a fast response time of 7–10 s and can be used for at least 8 weeks without any divergence in potential. The electrode can be used in the pH range of 4–10. The proposed electrode successfully used for determination of sulfate in zinc sulfate pharmaceutical capsule and as indicator electrode in titration of sulfate with barium chloride.
