Abstract

This paper proposes the performance of a Photo Voltaic (PV) system with SEPIC Converter where the switching is controlled by Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique connected switched diode Multi Level Inverter (MLI) topology. MLI are suitable in high voltage & high power application due to their ability to synthesize waveforms with better harmonic spectrum. This paper presents (A) the design and study of PV and (B) V-I characteristics of PV system. Then, the output is connected to SEPIC converter and the switching is done by Perturb and Observe (P&O) type MPPT algorithm. Finally, Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) based switched diode Multilevel Inverter is connected to this above mentioned system. This switched diode multilevel inverter strategy enhances the fundamental output voltage and reduced total harmonic distortion. The proposed asymmetrical switched diode multilevel inverter is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink and the corresponding results are presented in this paper.
