Abstract

Abstract With the growth of integrated curriculum, geography teachers are increasingly faced with the challenge of promoting and teaching writing. Many teachers lack confidence in writing instruction and resist withdrawals from their bank of social studies time. This article presents a model for structuring writing in the geography class with a focus on using maps to prompt writing that will promote student interaction with geographic concepts.
