Abstract

The article looks at Pushkin’s “Eugene Onegin” establishing allusions to Charles Maturin’s “Melmoth the Wanderer”, which have never been studied in connection with Pushkin’s text before. The author arrives at a conclusion that the character of Tatiana is created with references to Immali-Isidora, whereas a parallel between Onegin and Melmoth turnes out to be secondary and existing only in the heroine’s literary outlook.
