Abstract

1 Pushkin immediately recognized the enormous ascendant power in him and immediately reached out to him as though handing on the task of continuing his fundamental activity in the noble pursuit of literature. He cast a welcoming bright ray of friendship upon the young newcomer from the South who was languishing in the harsh indifference of the gloomy northern capital, and warmed his heart.
