Abstract

Oligo(2,5-thienyleneethynylene)s (OTE) with terminal donor-acceptor substitution were synthesized by applying Sono-gashira-Hagihara reactions and a protection group technique. The combination of the alkylthio and nitro substituents provides a DAOTE series, whose long-wavelength absorption shows a monotonous bathochromic effect for increasing numbers n of repeat units. The convergence limit is already reached for n = 3.
