Abstract
The paper deals with the key medical aspects of the emergence and spread of purulent surgical infection caused by parenteral drug use, as well as its allocation of drug abusers to a particular clinical cohort of patients. The features of chronic inflammatory diseases were analyzed in this group of patients. They acquire an atypical clinical manifestations and unusual course, which in most cases makes it impossible to effectively identify and treat them.

Summary
ВІЛ-інфікованість серед наркотично залежних хворих із гнійно-септичними ускладненнями відзначають у 38,7 % [6, 8]. Поява в хірургічній практиці цієї нової субпопуляції хворих спричинила низку непересічних, незвичних для загалу хірургів проблем, серед яких нині вагоме значення має гнійно-септична патологія, зумовлена парентеральним вживанням наркотиків [3, 19, 20, 27, 29, 36]. З того часу в світовій літературі періодично почали публікуватися роботи, що свідчили про безпосередній причинно-наслідковий зв’язок між ін’єкційним способом уведення наркотичних середників та розвитком гнійно-септичних захворювань у наркотично залежних осіб [29, 35].
