Abstract

Sorghum stunt mosaic rhabdovirus (SSMV) was purified from infected sweet corn by Celite filtration and sucrose density centrifugation. Bacilliform particles measuring 71×218 nm were observed in preparations by electron microscopy. Transmission of membrane-acquired purified virus to sweet corn by Graminella sonora indicated that the purified virus was infectious. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of dissociated virions revealed four major proteins with calculated molecular mass of 91, 59, 36, and 30 kDa []
