Purification and characterization of the N- and C-terminal cyanogen bromide peptide of salt-soluble type III collagen

Abstract

Fetal calf skin was extracted with neutral buffer in the presence of enzyme inhibitors. Type III collagen was isolated from the extract and cleaved with cyanogen bromide. The N- and C-terminal cyanogen bromide peptides were purified and characterized. The sizes and amino acid compositions of the N- and C-terminal non-triple-helical extensions of type III collagen were deduced.
