Abstract

A relation is found between the spin J of a fermion resonance, the sum of the squares of the statistical tensors t M L for even L, and the degree of target polarization for the reaction M + B( P) → M + B ∗ on a polatized target. In principle an unambiguous spin determination can be made by observing the parity-conserving decays of B ∗ for two different values of the target polarization ¦ P¦ .
