Abstract

Using a new method for direct measurement of longitudinal and transverse pure shear strains, shear moduli of fibre-reinforced materials (FRM) are determined. Data on moduli of unidirectional fibre-reinforced materials are compared to predicted values, calculated on the basis of the composite-cylinder-assemblage theory. The results show that this method can be useful for the determination of the inplane and transverse shear moduli of FRM. The strength properties data could also be obtained by the same method.
