Abstract

Six electric monopole (E0) transitions have been observed at low energy in $^{185}\mathrm{Pt}$: These transitions have no observed \ensuremath{\gamma} rays. The observation of pure E0 transitions and of such a large number of E0 transitions in an odd-mass nucleus is unprecedented. The phenomenon is consistent with the mixing of shape isomeric configurations.
