Abstract

An explanation is given of the phenomenon of “deep pseudopupil” in the compound eye of Drosophila. This phenomenon is here exploited as a technique which, combined with that of optical neutralization of the corneal lenslets, permits the real time analysis of the rapid pigment migration occuring in receptor cells 1 to 6 under bright adaptation.
