Abstract

Electron as well as electron and ion emission from triglycinesulphate (TGS) and L-α alanine doped TGS (LATGS) single crystals, respectively, produced by an ac electric field driving, have been investigated. The energy spectrum of the switching induced electron emission from TGS crystal samples involves electrons with a mean energy of the order of tens of eV. In the case of LATGS crystals, two different energy spectra for electrons were determined. If ion emission assists the electron emission, the energy of electrons (produced under our experimental conditions) is focused at 200 eV. When only electron emission is detected, the electrons have a broad energy spectrum with maximum energy up to 400 eV. The mechanisms leading to these charge emission processes are discussed.
