Abstract

A model for the output pulse risetime for large, cylindrical scintillation detectors is presented. The risetime is shown to be determined by the number of reflections at the detector surface, the reflectivity of the surface, efficiency of detection and absorption by the scintillation medium. The model is compared to measurements.
