Abstract

For high temperature dust elimination in IGCC power generation in Japan, operating at 693K and 2.55MPa, CRIEPI has selected a large ceramic tube filter. The filter is made of silicon carbide and consists of a surface film with fine pore and a coarse pore base tube. In a pressure vessel several elements are connected and pulled down as a module. A one—dimensional analysis of the filter tube flow and a numerical model of pulse jet cleaning led to identification of a suitable filter size and appropriate design of the cleaning system. The cleaning velocity through the filter wall varied somewhat along the filter axis, depending on volume flow rate of the cleaning gas, filter size, filter permeability, etc. The total pressure of the pulse jet needed to be 5MPa to acquire enough cleaning flow. This investigation evaluated the effect of these factors in the pulse jet system.
