Abstract

A pulse generation scheme for low-power, low-complexity impulse ultra-wideband is presented. By employing the finite impulse response function inherent in digital circuitry to shape the spectrum, the analogue pulse shaping filter could be reduced to a low-Q RLC filter, and the designed composite pulses could be generated and efficiently amplified in the digital domain. This scheme is demonstrated with generation of two composite pulses for the two potential IEEE 802.15.4a bands.
