Abstract

Image fusion is a difficult task due to the large amount of data that needs to be processed and the intricate dispersal of the pertinent information that are within many channels. The pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN) has previously been shown to be a very powerful image processing tool for single channel images. A multichannel PCNN for processing of multichannel images is introduced. Fusion of the pulse images produced by the multichannel PCNN is easily performed by a single channel fractional power filter.
