Abstract

We propose a new fiber device, involving a nonlinear twin-core fiber in a fiber-loop reflector configuration, achieving several all-optical operations. By varying the disperson parameter β2, we generate quasi-square pulses in the positive dispersion regime and produce compressed and pedestal-free pulses (in one pass) in the anomalous dispersion regime. The stability of these phenomena under a change of β2 is also studied. A scale invariance is derived that permits operation of the device at any desired value of β2 simply by changing its length.
