Abstract

Objective To discusse the experience of pulmonary monitoring after open-heart surgery among children.It aims to show scientific methods of pulmonary monitoring and nursing for children after open-heart surgeries.Methods Seventy-seven patients under 3 years old who received congenital heart disease surgeries were collected in the study from January 2004 to August 2007.All the patients in the study were on ventilators after operations.The key points for monitoring were as follows:①Correct use of ventilator;②Proper fixation of tracheal intubations;③Keeping the airway patent;④Proper extubation;⑤Nursing care after extubation;⑥Nursing to prevent pulmonary complications.Results All the children successfully completed open heart surgeries with by-pass.Four cases developed pulmonary infections after surgeries and recovered after treatment.Conclusions These monitoring methods and nursing measures are safe and applicable,which improves the success of open-heart surgeries among children.
